Child Protection Support
Through support from the Department of Education, Youthnet offers a range of services to the Voluntary Youth Sector aimed at strengthening child protection policies, procedures and practice. We do this through:

  • Delivering quality assured child protection training to volunteers and staff including management committees.
  • Facilitating training for designated officers.
  • Facilitating Headquarter or Regional Youth Organisations to have an "in house" Accredited Child Protection trainer to cascade training through their affiliated groups
  • Delivering "Thinkuknow" child protection training specifically on internet and mobile technology. This allows those trained to deliver "Thinkuknow" to 11-16 year olds.
  • Providing guidance to youth organisations, groups and projects in the development of child protection policies and procedures.
  • Criminal Record Checks - Youthnet is registered with Access NI as an umbrella body and can process checks on behalf of youth organisations, groups and projects who do not have a headquarter or other body to do this for them. We also provide guidance on the Access NI process and interpretation of disclosures. Youthnet does not charge for processing checks or support services.
