Responding to the needs of young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and or trans in Northern Ireland, through training and awareness raising, group support and capacity building, influencing policy and developing resources.
The ShOut Project aims to promote the development of young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and or trans (LGBT) by
- Identifying and engaging with LGBT young people
- Building the capacity of LGBT youth organisations
- Promoting good practice in the youth service and other organisations working with young people
- Influencing public policy
How?
- By helping young LGBT people to have access to services and programmes that meet their needs
- By helping young people to understand their own and other sexualities
- By helping LGBT groups and other organisations to have the skills and resources they need to be effective in their work with young LGBT people through training and awareness raising
- By helping young LGBT people and the people working with them to have access to the information they need on LGBT issues
- By contributing to and influencing the law and policies that affect young LGBT people
- By helping young LGBT people and the people who work with them to get funding to meet their needs
