Update on Vetting and Barring Scheme - 15 June 2010

NI Vetting and Barring Scheme Implementation Team letter - 16 June 2010

Access NI have introduced a new application form which must be used after 9 July 2010. Youthnet cannot accept the "old" application forms for processing after this date.

Youthnet is registered as an umbrella body with ACCESS NI and we have received support from the Department of Education to carry out checks for other youth groups and projects that do not have a parent body or HQ organisation to do this for them. There is no charge for using the service to check volunteers, however Access NI do charge a fee to check paid staff.

Each person to be checked needs to have completed Parts B,D,E,F & G of the Application Form.  Please do not complete part C - ISA registration as this is currently not in operation as it is pat of the Government's review of the Vetting and Barring Scheme.
The form can downloaded from www.accessni.gov.uk  If you have any problems in downloading the form contact Susie Conlon.
Guidance on how to complete the form is also available from www.accessni.gov.uk or from Susie Conlon at Youthnet.

Please ensure that it is completed in black ink.

It is also a requirement that identity checks are carried out on each applicant. Identity documents are listed on Page 2 of the information on Identity Validation on www.accessni.gov.uk  The first time you use this service through Youthnet, we will carry out the identity checks.  We will visit you to do this and you can either photocopy documents for us to look at or people can bring their identity documents in person. Either way we do not keep copies of documents, we simply check them against the forms and return them.

As soon as you have your forms completed contact Susie Conlon at Youthnet (or call 028 90331880) and she will arrange this.

For future checks,  we will be asking you to nominate someone from your group or project that has had an enhanced disclosure to carry out identity checks. We will also ask you for a copy of your constitution or terms of reference and your child protection policy. This will mean that for future applications the nominated person will carry out the identity checks and you can simply post application forms to Youthnet for processing.

Contact Susie Conlon for guidance on any aspect of using the service.
